[SPEECH] SIMPLICITY EATS COMPLEXITY FOR BREAKFAST – LEADERSHIP AND CULTURE BUILDING WITHIN A CREATIVE ORGANIZATION

Sari Heinilä, Chief Executive Officer, McCann Helsinki, Finland

It’s our industry’s original sin to make everything sound like rocket science. Well, it’s not rocket science nor should it be. The simpler we can make things the better they’ll click with audiences. And yet, funnily enough, to be able to make things simple requires a lot more confidence than making things complicated.

Confidence comes from experience, but gaining the required confidence and being at ease with what you’ve got to offer can be accelerated by leadership and company culture. Then how does one build a culture where clear common sense eats complexity for breakfast? Where making things easy is celebrated over being “reaaaally busy”?

Sari has been leading account teams for over 15 years along with having been a member of companies’ management boards prior to turning into the CEO of McCann Helsinki this year. Now she’s using her past experiences to build a culture that nurtures confidence and courage to result in creativity.
