Volkstheater – Heavy Bones
Creative idea
In 2020, Volkstheater premiered ‘Heavy Bones’. The play revolves around Ferdinand Krutzler, who kills all of his fellow protagonists. A perfect story for the Viennese target group, famous for their morbidity. We tied in the plot and let the dead have their say. We placed gravestones throughout Vienna, turned billboards into urn walls, put death notices on posters and sent out obituaries to journalists - all containing QR-Codes. The key to the campaign, was the mobile phone of the audience. Via AR they could get in touch with the characters, hear their stories and, consequently, buy tickets.
