Bringing Malevich home
Creative idea
The airport in Boryspil is the major gateway to Ukraine. There were plans to name it after Kazimir Malevich – famous artist and the founder of Suprematism. However this decision generated a huge public discussion. Majority of Ukrainians had little idea that Malevich was related to Ukraine. We decided to use aircraft as a media channel to tell the Ukrainian and foreign passengers that Malevich was born and raised in Ukraine. We collaborated with Ukraine International Airlines and designed a safety film in the style of Suprematism inspired by artworks of Malevich. Now every passenger travelling with UIA long-haul flights knows that Malevich was born and raised in Ukraine.
