In the summer of 2020, Golden Drum Festival teamed up with the “Graphische”, the leading institution for education in the fields of printing and media technology, photography, multimedia, and graphic communication design in Austria, to create a new and interesting opportunites for their students.
''We think it's very important for creative festivals to find programs for young creatives. Part of our challenge was to look at communication and advertising through different channels – it's all about the 360 approach. The students had to choose which channel and ways of communication will be the best one for their audience and then create moodboards, ideas, concepts layouts...'' said Goran Golik, Creative Director, and Lecturer at Graphische.
The winning idea was presented by Mariella Drechsler and Yann Sprajc, since Lisa Grimm wasn't able to join us on the virtual stage. They described the rollercoaster behind their design process.
''We were presented with 2 main challenges: How to show the positivity and happiness the festival stands for in difficult times when we had to stay inside and work online? And how to design the idea when we don't know if the festival is going to be offline or online?''
They were inspired by the game Gather Town, which allows users to design the space and adapt it to individual's needs, therefore, enabling creativity. They recreated the festival location in Portorož and created a new virtual experience.
