BACKGROUND In Hungary, 1 in 2 women have experienced verbal violence by an intimate partner, and one in nine men has run into the same. INSIGHT Verbal abuse affects victims’ mental health. After a while they internalize their abusers’ violent phrases. IDEA Hungarian Interchurch Aid wanted to raise awareness of that by presenting how it looks like when the abusive words take control over one's thoughts. SOLUTION We created THE MINDTAKERS — a true-story-based online short-film series with four different narratives. In the stories we got into victims’ heads and showed how the abusers’ thoughts became their internal dialogue.
