SCANDAL
Creative idea
The play Scandal in St. Florian Valley has been causing uproar ever since its premiere in 1907. In it, Slovenes are depicted as simple-minded and xenophobic. This year, to expose the present fear of migrants, the director trusted one of the central roles to a black actress. By uniquely depicting her and Slovenia's geographical shape we made sure all Slovenes felt addressed. One simple, yet captivating poster campaign thus sparked a nation-wide debate. Exposing people's still present narrowmindedness and xenophobia on one hand and more emphatic and liberal values on the other, the campaign delivered record-breaking results.
