Save The Date

Creative idea

With the Save the Date series I wanted to make a visual invitation for people to visit our national galleries, museums, and other cultural institutions on the date of our national cultural holiday called Prešern Day, on February 8th. During the holiday all state and municipal museums and galleries offer free entry, and various other cultural events are held. The holiday is celebrated not only in Slovenia but also by Slovene communities all around the world. The idea was to visually show the variety of cultural events and try to appeal to the public to take part in them. The poster is designed as a vintage movie poster. The scene is illuminated with a stage light like it would be in the theatre. The scene depicts a type of cultural event the public could attend. Everything is set on a calendar in the box right on February 8th, to try to reinforce the importance of the date. I chose to make the design as contrasted as possible to grab your attention . Headline cleary communicate the message of the series which is to Save The Date.
