The Theatre Interpreter
Creative idea
Every year more than 6,000 theatre performances are created in Slovenia but none of them can be understood by the deaf. For that reason, NLB in cooperation with the Association of the Deaf Ljubljana and Slovene Theatres introduced The Theatre Interpreter. An initiative that enables sign language experts and actors in one to interpret the storylines and dialogues, allowing deaf visitors to attend the most popular theatrical performances in Slovenia, previously only available to hearing audiences. Theatre interpreters received a specific spot on the actual stage and became a regular part of the performances.
