Your trip. Accepted by Mastercard.
Creative idea
INSIGHT The most meaningful travel souvenirs are rarely bought as souvenirs; they are accidental proof of a moment that happened because the traveler was there (Morgan & Pritchard, 2005). Yet abroad, payment uncertainty creates friction, turning spontaneous moments into calculations (Prelec & Loewenstein, 1998). IDEA Just as a card is accepted at the till, the traveler’s journey is accepted in the world. Mastercard brings emotional meaning to the practical language of payment acceptance. The receipt becomes more than proof of payment. It becomes proof of participation: a physical reminder that the traveler entered a local moment, made an unplanned decision, and allowed the trip to become deeply personal. EXECUTION The posters feature tactile receipts from all over the world weathered by their environments: stained by Swedish festival flora, Japanese tattoo ink, or Chilean sea spray. Hacking the receipt interface, the campaign integrates Mastercard’s Priceless formula in the transaction line items, transforming a financial document into a lasting souvenir. The format is instantly recognizable across countries and contexts. Details such as currency, merchant, location, and purchase make each receipt unique to a journey, while emotional line items highlight value beyond price. The receipt shows what was paid for; the campaign reveals what was gained. 'Your Trip. Accepted by Mastercard.' WHY MASTERCARD The idea stems from a touchpoint unique to payment networks. By guaranteeing cross-border acceptance, Mastercard converts payment uncertainty into freedom of participation (Mastercard UK, 2026). Pairing functional acceptance with Priceless, the receipt bridges financial approval and priceless memory. Mastercard doesn't just process payments; it accepts the trip. https://doi.org/10.1177/1468797605062714 https://doi.org/10.1287/mksc.17.1.4 https://www.mastercard.com/gb/en/business/payments/merchant-cloud/cross-border-payments.html
