Creative idea
The Core Insight Travel means leaving the familiar behind: new languages, customs, streets and currencies. That unfamiliarity is part of the excitement, but money shouldn’t be. Mastercard removes the friction of unfamiliar currencies, so travellers can focus on discovering the destination rather than converting prices or carrying cash. The Creative Concept The idea plays on the double meaning of “change”: the coins and currencies travellers have to learn, and the cultural change of entering an unfamiliar place. Each poster combines a destination’s recognisable everyday ritual with its currency. A yen coin sits beside chopsticks in Japan; a pound coin appears with tea in England. The visual makes the unfamiliar feel immediately recognisable. “Going to…?” addresses the traveller directly, while the Mastercard mark completes the sentence with one word: “isn’t.”The brand becomes the one constant that doesn’t require adjustment. Why Mastercard When travelling, almost everything can feel different. Paying with Mastercard doesn’t. Its widespread acceptance makes it a familiar experience across destinations, regardless of the local currency or customs. Global Scalability The concept works from any traveller’s perspective. A European travelling to Japan might see a yen coin with chopsticks; a Japanese traveller going to Italy might see a euro coin beside an espresso. The structure stays consistent: “Going to…?”, a destination-specific cultural scene, and Mastercard as the familiar constant. Local currencies, customs and references can change for each market, with local input ensuring authenticity. The campaign can also explore food, music, sport and everyday traditions, allowing each execution to reflect what makes a destination worth discovering. The world changes. Your way of paying doesn’t.
