The Second World War took the lives of over 25 million citizens in the former Soviet Union. 6 billion letters were sent from the front, offering testimony of the tragic events that affected each and every family. Google trailing in local search and struggling to belong and show its positive influence on Russian society offered a technology solution. We created a massive interactive online collection of wartime letters to preserve a generation of Russian history before it was lost forever. We ignited the social movement to upload family letters, staged high profile public readings and distributed videos.
